The Full-Length Version

The old Oldies station, 92.1, was recently taken over and converted into a station that plays more contemporary, yet, "family-friendly" music. At first, I was upset. I like Motown... I like coming across Del Shannon's hit, "Runaway," on occasion. Without Oldies 92 and 100, well, I wasn't sure what I was going to do.

Tonight, the new station (same call numbers... you get the idea) won me over. While I was driving to work, the nice dj played Third Eye Blind's hit "Semi-Charmed Life." Well, not only have I not heard this pop-bubblegum favorite in a good long while, but until tonight, I had never, NEVER heard the full-length version of the song played on the radio. Let me tell you, I jammed out. I turned the volume way, way up, and I sang. I belted it out. And it felt great.

In other news, I'm currently reading John Irving's novel, The World According to Garp, and I'm loving it.

In other, other news, my mom, my sister, and my sister-in-law are all getting married this year. My sister in April, my mom and sister-in-law in July. It's going to be a busy Spring/Summer, but I'm very excited about all of it.

Valentines' Day is fast-approaching. I really do love that Hallmark holiday. This year, Josh and I are going to go out for dinner with a friend of mine from work (Emily) and her fiance, Mike. Josh and I really like hanging out with Em and Mike... they're really good people. I'm not sure what else Josh and I are going to do to celebrate, but I'm sure it will be wonderful. It always is.

Christmas Vacation

I know... I never update this thing. My apologies.

Josh and I just got back from a week long trip to IL/OH. We spent December 26th-30st with Josh's family in IL and December 31st-January 2nd in OH visiting Sarah and Phil. We has a great time at both places even though our stay was much too short.

Big news on the in-law front... my sister-in-law, Erin, got engaged on December 30th! Woo hoo... I'm so happy for her (and happy that my new BFF is going to be my new brother-in-law in-law). I think they're planning to tie the knot this upcoming July. I win.

Josh and I were spoiled by our parents again this Christmas. We were given a new messenger bag to carry our laptop around in, a digital camera, a toaster oven, a set of Pyrex baking dishes, books, CDs, DVDs, gift cards, socks (me, mostly), a food processor, two sweater drying racks, new Christmas ornaments, oh, and the list goes on. We are very blessed.

I haven't been working out much lately *sigh* It's too cold to join the 1230 Club on their daily walks (actually, I think only Carl has been walking consistently... Go Carl!), and we haven't been able to fit in the Y. Hopefully that will all start to change this week and next now that the holidays are over and we don't have quite as much to do.

It's lunch time and I'm a hungry little girl, so I must sign off. Before I do, however, I want to thank Sarah and Phil for letting us stay with them over the new year. This is the second year in a row that I've invited my husband and myself to their home, and it's also the second year in a row that they've graciously housed us. We appreciate your hospitality and are always grateful for the time we get to spend with the two of you. We love you both very much.

Our new iBook rocks. Hard. I love it.

There's only a little over a week until Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opens, for those who care. I'm planning on buying tickets tomorrow.

Speaking of buying tickets, today I reserved 5 for the Scranton Cultrual Center's Sunday performance of The Nutcracker. Josh and I are going to go with two girls that I work with—Abby and Emily—and Mike, Emily's fiance. I can't wait... I've never seen The Nutcracker before.

The past few weeks have been very, very busy and have gone by very, very quickly.

Will we ever get a break?

Last night Josh and I went to the Y. I ran 1 mile and walked for about half a mile. That brings yesterday's totals to: 1 mile running, 3.5 miles walking. Needless to say...

My legs are WICKED sore.

... but I am going walking again with my 12:30 Club people today. Josh and I are planning on hitting the Y after work again. We also have to go grocery shopping and to Medico's to clean. Looks like it's going to be another late night.

My birthday is on Sunday. I'm wicked excited. Josh has already given me my gifts since he can't seem to hide anything from me. *smile* Last week he surprised me with a new, gray, Burton winter jacket. It's really great... I like to pretend I can snowboard when I wear it. Oh.. and on Monday he surprised me with a new pair of gloves (that turn into mittens) and a matching beany hat with ear flaps! Woo!

I haven't had much time to do any reading outside of schoolwork lately. I finished rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last week some time. I cannot wait until Goblet of Fire is released in theatres on November 18th. I'm hoping to reread A Prayer for Owen Meany sometime soon... oh, and the new John Irving novel, which I can't remember the name of... Love Story, maybe.

That's all for now. Both of my bosses are out of the office today and tomorrow, so I'll probably be posting again soon.

Word Verification

Just wanted to let everyone know that I enabled a word verification for posting comments. Sorry about the hassle.

By the looks of things...

I'm a slacker. And, I have a new blog skin. Go me.

Life is good right now. Josh and I just found out that we'll be able to quit our cleaning job in the middle of January. I'm going to go back to work part-time in the computer labs at Marywood University (in addition to my editing job, of course). I'll have tuition benefits, paid holiday, and some paid vacation times. This means that I'll be able to finish my graduate degree much, much sooner than I had anticipated (hopefully by January of 2007).

Hey... my birthday is in 16 days. Who's coming to visit?

Happy Birthday, Grumpy Bear!

Happy Birthday, husband.

I wish we could spend the day together, but alas, I have to work. I hope you have an enjoyable day and that you get to take some time out and relax.

I love you and look forward to celebrating the rest of our birthdays together.

Love,
Cookie Monster

The Krimpet Tree

Carl brought in krimpets, from his krimpet tree, today. There are about 5 packs of krimpets sitting on the file cabinet... only about 10 feet away from me.

I do not need to eat a krimpet. Eating a krimpet will only make me feel guilty later. Just because the krimpets are free does not mean I need to eat one. I am in charge.

... right?
